Stress relieving technique
Do you know that people use their free time to smoke and drink (alcohol) just to kill their access time? Unless you want to beat the world record for the most cigarettes smoked per day and living for 90 years or the most alcohol tolerance individual in the world. Kidding. These will definitely not serve you. The average person to live in this world is about 72 to 80 years old( based on research) then why not live a worthwhile life then “dying” out of regret?
Reader: I am just being normal and doing what others do, maybe a little bit of entertainment to relieve my stress.
Ahh, I read you, but there are lots of worthwhile ways to relieve stress, like singing, dancing, exercising or maybe even helping to meet the needs of individuals? Now that is worthwhile. It may sound corny, but hey! if it is going to bring you peace, satisfaction or improve you status, then go for it! that was what BelieverS did. It was October 20th 2015, one of our first visit for volunteering, especially at a disability home. It was a great experience of course but not before facing the hot weather on the way to the disability center which was located near Eunos MRT. Thye Hua Kwan (THK) Moral Society established the THK Home for Disabled @ Eunos (formerly known as Moral Home for Disabled) on 1 June 1989 .
These clients were some strike with illness like diabetes, some had hearing impairment and adults with disabilities. Upon registering ourselves we actually started off with some games like Uno, Stack’em, “Donkey” card games, which we bought in for them. We divided the few volunteers in to different groups of the clients and started off our games with them. After that we had some food distributions especially chocolates, which we bought too. We then ended the day with a short motivational speech to boost their spirit:)
The Home aims to ensure a high quality of living for the residents under its care and to develop residents in the hostel programme to their highest potential so that they can be independent in their daily lives and be re-integrated back into the community through volunteers which they are looking for.
